Warmth! Apr 03, 2012
By Big E
Bought this to thicken the middle pickup position of my church strat for playing modern chunky rhythm parts. It is perfect, warm, balanced, output matches my '55 single coil neck, and my 'tele' modified bridge pickup. I can now play clean 'acousticy' chords on the neck for backing up soloists, I can play my twangy cutting bridge pickup when the electric piano is filling up the lower midrange, and I can play this middle pickup when I need to do some thick gritty modern rhythm when our Youth group has services. Perfect! It sounds about half as 'ducky' as normal in the 2 and 4 switch positions, which is fine with me. (I also installed a 'Gilmour' switch to allow playing the bridge and neck together for a nice wailing thinnish tone... and it is perfect for the 'numb' tone. This blue lace sensor is very, very comparable to the humbucker bridge sound of my schector C1, warm and balanced and defined. It is not as cutting as the P90's on my Gib SG classic. The blue lace does not replace either, but I modded the strat with it so that I can leave it at the church without always having to cary my various guitars around :) Literally, its a strat that can sound like a fat Gibson in one position, and that is just handy. Enjoy. Mine doesnt 'cut' much at my settings, but I am pretty sure that if I needed more bite I could bump up the treble and get all I wanted... my amp usually stays adjusted to my single coils, so treble isnt cranked too much. Nice gibsony overdrive tone... think Zep
