Amazing Price for an Amazing MIDI Controller Oct 14, 2010
By Nick Tracy Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R21XYUMVB3KRRU A video review of the m-audio oxygen 49 (silver) midi control keyboard... Just another spectacular product from m-audio. looking forward to purchasing more items from them.
UPDATE: it has now been a few years since i purchased this item and did the video review. It was my first time on camera and I was obviously very nervous. I might do an updated video review. As for the keyboard, it has been very useful in my music and it is still working flawlessly. I have discovered all the features it has such as the midi control and interface functions you can add this to your existing midi patch network and interface it with other midi protocol devices. the only down side I can think of is the fact that it does not have weighted keys. I'm also going to purchase an M-Audio Axiom 49 for the drum pads and weighted keys, at a higher cost. I will be using both however in my set-up. Thanks for the positive votes. I'm sorry to those of you who did not find my review helpful. I only covered the basics.

Nothing but happy:) Oct 26, 2010
By Baker I am a audio production major, and on my first day at the art institute of California, they had the oxygen8's in class and I in was in love. The oxygen8 never gives me any issues with pro tools or logic, and for that matter max MSP. The oxygen49 worked flawlessly with the driver (from the disk) In reason 4. I love the feeling of this keyboard, the knobs and faders are nicely weighted, the only negeitive I have to say is the keys arent fully weighted, but for this price, I won't complain:) and in all honesty semi weight is better then nothing. This keyboard is everything you see in the picture.

Decent action, excellent keyboard for Ableton! Jul 14, 2010
By Deacon Boogie I am not a professional musician, but I know what I am doing when it comes to keyboards. This is a great MIDI controller and works perfectly with Ableton (both the included Lite version and full-on Live version). Knobs and sliders have a solid feel to them. Keys are quick and responsive. This is a meat and potatoes keyboard for those who know what they need and for the money, it can't be beat! Caveat: if you are a pianist, you may want a more expensive hammer-action keyboard or else you'll find this keyboard way too fast.

Indexpensve and versatile May 06, 2011
By Bob The Oxygen-49 is a 49-key synth-action MIDI controller with 9 sliders, 8 knobs, a transport control section and 9 generic buttons. You'll never be fooled into thinking it's a real piano keyboard, but that's not what it is for. (A StudioLogic 990XP feels much more like a hammer-action weighted piano keyboard.)
Of all the buttons, the ones I use most are the transport controls. They took me a while to find the correct setup procedure (buttons in Sonar are rather obscure to program).
drawbacks: The 3-digit LED display is a puzzzle to decode sometimes. (A backlit LCD would probably require too much current.) Programming can be awkward because of the lack of dedicated programming utttons, though at least the keys are labeled. The sliders seem a bit fragile, and it is very difficult to enter precise values with them; you can usually get within or 2 of the number but hittting it dead on takes luck. The mod wheel doesn't have a centering spring but the pitch bender does, and both wheels are located in an awkward place,
But these issues are minor. The keyboard has a good feel, and the transport buttons are conveniently-placed (and very convenient). I've usually been saatisfied with M-Audio's equipment, and the Oxygen 49 is no exception.

easy for a beginner Jul 02, 2011

I just got Garage Band on the Mac, and decided to pick up keyboard again after a lapse of many years. Just plugged it in and it worked. More functionality than I need--maybe more than I will ever need--but not expensive.
