Upgrades your posture and balance... Jan 17, 2012
By R. Resurreccion The product itself seems really sturdy and is very easy to install. It is also very comfortable to the back and can be adjusted to your preference. There is a nice play when you lean on it, it is not very rigid but that is actually a very good thing. It gives sort of a good bounce when playing.
I never had a back rest before so I cannot compare the quality or comfort to other back rests out there. But what I do know is that I'll probably never drum again without a back rest (if given a choice). This is NOT just a throne upgrade, it will actually upgrade your POSTURE and BALANCE. Two very important things to a drummer.
I just went through a 3 hour non-stop grueling jam with my band last night. Its just one song after the other (AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix, U2, Coldplay, OPM... etc) and I have never felt as good as this before. My endurance is much better, I mean I could go on for 3 more hours. My back felt great. I also noticed I had more power in my legs. Both my heel up and heel down technique felt really good. The back rest pushing the lower back seems to provide me with really good leverage and not worry about balance making me more relaxed, which for some reason translates to better speed and power. If you are a drummer and do not have a back rest, I suggest you get one. It does not matter if it is this one or the other more expensive stuff out there, just get one. You won't regret it. This is hands down the best upgrade I have given myself as a drummer (my mapex raptor pedal is a far second)...

Good materials, but design lacking. Dec 30, 2012
By George Twang This rest is made of quality parts. I did not like the design for two main reasons.
The rest attaches below the seat, which means that the back rest will not rotate along with the seat when turning. This I found to be a problem when playing, as the back rest would restrict elbow room.
The hardware is bulky, adding about 8 inches to the back of the throne. This made me need to move my whole kit and pushed it out a decent amount. This also means there is a decent gap between the back edge of the seat and the back rest that results in less firm of support. There is a way to push it out further, but not bring it in much.

Gibraltar Back Rest Oct 18, 2012
By hotchops57 Gibraltar hardware is one of the best out there! I bought this back rest and was not surprised at all. It fit my back like a glove! The price is very good as well. I would recommend this product to anyone!

Great! But not perfect... Aug 24, 2012
By Corey Shrader Some of the adjustment mechanisms are a little finicky. For me, it took a little getting used to, because I had never played with a back rest before. I expected it to be way higher on my back but then realized that if it were it would look ridiculous and probably not be very sturdy. For me, it isn't terribly comfortable. However, this may be for a number of reasons not related to the product itself, including my posture and body size (5'11", 140lb). Overall, though, it's a solid product!
fits everything just fine . ! Apr 19, 2013
By Dave C. comfy and feels safe since attaches securely under the seat ... versus a few small screws into the thin wooden bottom of the seat ..
