4Perfect for Worship  Feb 17, 2008
By Troy Janisch "TJ"
i picked up this inexpensive acoustic/electric for playing at worship. I've owned electric acoustic guitars in the past and was very excited to find a slim roundback guitar that has good, reliable and consistent sound. It sounds good with or without the amp. The strings that came with it were a bit 'horsey' so I replaced them with lighter/brighter strings. It's quick to tune and holds tune well in inclimate weather.

After three months, I decided that I like it enough to get rid of my electric guitar altogether. I'll probably upgrade to a more expensive version from Ovation -- I like it so much, I'm kind of wishing I had bought one of the upper-end models now.

5A Real Bargain On a High Quality Guitar  Jul 03, 2007
By Randy V. Brown
I am very pleased with this guitar. It has the quality, tone and projection of a much more expensive guitar. I plan to play it primarily unplugged so I replaced the factory strings with D'Addario lights which have a tone that I prefer and a longer life than the many other brands I've tried. I've heard some complaints of the action being to heavy out of the box but I didn't find that to be a problem with mine.It played great without any tweaking. I've owned and played alot of guitars and in my opinion you would be hard pressed to find better in the $500.00 or less range.

5Great Value for a good sounding live guitar.  Nov 27, 2012
By Jason Butcher
The CC28 looks good, and sounds good . It is comfortable and fun to play, and it holds tune. The natural acoustic sound of the guitar when amplified is what sold me. This is a perfect gig guitar. At this price it's not hard to replace if something happens to it.

They are not the best value if you are playing without an amp; I would buy a Blue Ridge for this price range. These do sound better than a lot of other guitars when unplugged, but not ideal.
I would not use large gauge strings on one of these.
I recommend a feedback buster/plug for the sound hole.
A hard case is a must; I recommend finding one that can be shipped to you in the case if you go this route when buying a guitar.
It might not hurt to ask the vendor about their shipping procedure and return policy before you spend $300 or more.

5Very happy with this guitar.  Feb 19, 2012
By smontes
This is the first guitar I've ever owned, and I was VERY scared to purchase one since I didn't know what to look for. I knew I wanted an Ovation because I grew up with my brother owning one, and due to my small frame (5'8" and 110 lbs) I really was worried about having a traditional guitar. The Ovation CC28 worked out perfect for my frame.

Originally I had purchased an Applause, but due to poor build I returned it immediately and ordered this Celebrity. The quality was MUCH better, although the problems I had with the Applause may be due to the warehouse it was stocked at.

The CC28 is beautiful and plays well. I lowered the action on it and I find it to be very comfortable.

Actually being able to play it properly is another story, but I'm learning :)
