5I LOVE cool tools!  Aug 09, 2006
By M. Cobb
Dont you love it when a product:

-does what it claims

-does it well

-is a good deal?

I used my PlanetWaves Pro for the first time last night. The pin puller works smoothly, and the string winder doesnt come unscrewed constantly like every other one I've owned!

The componenet that really made my day was the string cutter. The 'blade' aint that sharp, but easily whacks the end of a low E string. Since there is only a little exposed metal, all of which is smooth and rounded, the risk of scratching your guitar is minimal, and the small cutting head makes it easy to trim the string very close to the peg.

The Pro String Winder appears to be well built, and I suspect that it will last me quite a while. Even if if conks out in a year (not that I think it will), its a good bargain, and I'll buy another.

Great product!

5Great idea that works well  Jan 15, 2007
By B. Greenhalgh "endergreen"
The string winder is larger and more comfortable to hold that any of the 'cheap' winders you buy at music stores. The winder part has smooth motion and the cutter works much better than expected. I thought maybe it would bend the strings rather than cut them. But so far, it snips cleanly through the strings and gets pretty close tot he peg head. If you change strings a lot, I would also recommend to yout he Planet Waves Headstand.

5Very easy to use.  Feb 27, 2009
By Y. Song
I love the pin puller the most. The bottom of it is very thin so that it slides under the pin very easily. This was something that was not as easy to use on my $2.50 string winder.

The cutter was also fun to use. Snips very easily, but the grip is not that easy to maneuver. Still it is a very effective tool.

The string winder was also very good. My hands don't move in a perfect circular motion, and no where near it either, but this seems to help me achieve that fairly well, compared to my $2.50 string winder.

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who is planning on changing strings.

5Good product  Apr 08, 2011
By MississippiMasterGardner_1322
It's made of strong plastic, doesn't bend or feel flimsy in the hand. Cuts bass strings with ease, winds strings easily. The end that covers the tuning key is very large, and perhaps on smaller, closer spaced, tuning keys may pose a problem. You'll just have to turn one key vertical and then wind the other one, and finish off tuning by hand (of course). I like that it's plastic, contrary to some other reviews, as it doesn't scratch or mar finishes unless someone should get stupid with it, and it's heavy enough plastic that you're not scared to use it. Good product. I'd buy another one without a doubt.

5So much better than pliers.  Mar 04, 2011
By aeonshelx "-x.x-"
After a few years of using pliers to pull out my string pegs, and to cut the strings, I was frustrated. I had broken too many pegs, and cutting the strings took too much effort. I had to fold, cut, bend back and forth, etc. My father finally gave me permission to buy a string cutter, and I flew to Amazon and started browsing. Immediately, this one caught my eye due to the high number of positive reviews. I purchased it with good hopes...

and was not disappointed. The string cutter is excellent; it takes very little effort and cuts in one snip. The string winder makes it very easy to wind my strings, and I am no longer sitting for minutes just winding the tuners by hand. Finally, my favorite, despite being the simplest feature on the tool, the peg remover. At first, it seems a little iffy to use. But! It's wonderful. You just shove it under the peg, and the peg seems to pop out by itself. I used this tool to replace my old strings, and I was extremely happy with my purchase.

Also, my friend saw I had this, borrowed it to replace HIS strings, and fell in love with it. He now owns one too.
