Description:

This was the product that got it all started for Shubb back in 1974, and to this day it's STILL the only fifth string capo worth putting on a banjo. It operates on a lever principle, not a spring, so it provides sufficient pressure to fret the string without muting the tone. It slides on a slim, dovetailed bar which mounts flush to the neck, making it sturdy and unobtrusive.

Features:
  • For 5 String Banjos

  • Operates with a Lever Instead of a Spring

  • Sufficient Pressure without Muting Tone

  • Sturdy and Unobtrusive

5Shubb is Good  Nov 02, 2011

Installation easy with the help of two small slider clamps and small jewlers hand drill and bit, the tang parks at the sixth fret and slides and clamps to the eleventh fret. Amen, amen, and amen.

4Good capo!  Jan 09, 2011

I ordered the 5th string capo and got it very fast. It was very simple to install. There are two tiny screws that I did drop a few times, but I was able to find them. They are hard to handle because they are so small. I wish the track was a little longer so I could capo as high up as a "D". But it did open up a few doors to play in more keys than just "G" so I'm happy with it.

1gets in the way  Dec 29, 2012

I decided to get a Shubb after I kept losing my Reagan tuners. I had a luthier install it to make sure it was on right. But it really gets in the way when I try to fret the 5th string on songs when playing in G. It seems like it might have been installed a little too high. I am going to give it some time to grow on me. Maybe it will be like a set of braces that you get used to. But at this point I do not like it.
