5Good Workhorse  Feb 06, 2010

This mic is typical of Shure: good and tough. For the price, don't expect studio performance; this is a good mic for garage bands, karaoke, anywhere you don't want to shell out on for the superb SM series. It is a good sounding mic that does what it's supposed to.

5life saver for "Bad" bands  Aug 27, 2010
By Thomas gruda "sound guy"
I run a professional PA system and I had some trouble with 2 separate bands dropping my sm 58's on ground. Well during that show I bought 5 of these thanks for Amazon Iphone app. I keep them in the mic case with the 58s and when I have a feeling the band is going to be violent I switch them out for these puppies.

I would feel comfortable running a high end show with these mics cause they sound great. I personally would use them the regularly for back up vocals for there low cost and superior sound.

but some shows are very particle about having 58's. but these are the bands who know how to treat a mic.

of course nothing beats a classic shure sm 58

5Shure Quality for Less - Sure, why not?  Aug 23, 2012
By Snodgrass Family "Snodgrass Family"
I've been using these PG48 mics for years - the sound is nearly indistinguishable from Shure's industry-standard SM58 when in a rehearsal situation. As a singer in metal bands, I've very rough on my microphones. This mic holds up to any aggressive style and can handle lots of abuse.

I damaged my 'go to' rehearsal mic (a 5-year-old PG48) during band practice on a Wednesday, and had another rehearsal on Friday -I needed my Shure Mic QUICK! - I placed my order with Amazon and my mic was delivered and ready to go Friday afternoon.

I definitely recommend this mic for anyone wanting quality on a budget.

3Great, for the price.  Dec 21, 2012
By Young Mommy Hubbard
Let's be reasonable here. If you purchased this mic at the low price it's selling for on amazon, you shouldn't expect a professional sounding mic. I purchased this to use in a small room for voice lessons. It does the job. I would never use this on stage because of its slightly muffled sound. It also works best on a stand; there's a lot of noise from your hand movement when holding the mic.

4Decent  Jun 26, 2011

My drummer got a deal and pulled the trigger on a 3 pack of these and I was like "NOOoooo"! Turns out I was wrong about these mics. They are solid, sound good, and are a great price. They will not hold up to a SM-58 or a beta 58, but it dogs the heck out of my Audix OM-2. Get one and see for yourself, heck at $40 use it for a back up.
